I seem to be popular this week. I wonder if I would have gotten salmoned again if I had gotten on last night? I didn't get on the computer at all last night, too busy playing The World Ends With You. And thinking "Damn, it's just like Kingdom Hearts, except with better music and no Dis-crap". But the three main characters look exactly like the three from KHII in the fact that they seem to have the same hair and eyes. Neku = Sora ; Shiki = Kairi ; Yoshira = Riku. The personalities are totally different though. Neku is an ass. XD I LIKE YOSHIRA- HE GIGGLES. XD And how can you not like a game where the combo move battle cry is: Yoshira: Follow my lead! Neku: SCREW THAT!*cars fall on enemies* The gameplay with your partner though, is EXTREMELY COMPLEX. I mean, I heard people complain of it, but I had no idea it was this hard! basically, if you don't immediately set your partner's play to Autoplay: FAST then you will die a lot if you cannot do two things simultaneously. You are expected to control Neku on the bottom screen, using the stylus and play a sort-of DDR-esque thing with the C-Pad on the top screen for your partner's play. If you don't hit all the right combos, they do not attack or even really move. I just set my partner onto the Autoplay: FAST all the time, because I can't multitask like that. I mean, look at this: (screenshot stolen from some game site) It's not that the game isn't fun, because it is! Some of the extra things, like buying the right brandname clothing to wear in the correct part of Shibuya to increase your chances of winning, are WEIRD. And I have yet to bother with them. I think my favorite part of the whole game, besides getting to use flair to fight things, is the wonky dialogue. Seriously, translators: You tried too hard to sound cool. I like Neku though, he's a pottymouth for sure. Oh, and I have to admit, it's always a little weird hearing one of the characters say "Neku" since it's so close to "Neko". Very weird. Like, anywhere (for free)? I really wanted to start playing again, since I'll have all Summer to not be in school and therefore do fun things again! I have DOMO on the Acer Demon, but I got really tired of the rather icky way they programmed movement and the lack of ways to customize your character, oh, and the fact that the last time I played I could only pick ONE job class and so I'm a Swordmaster even though I wanted to be a Fencer. Yeah, I just don't think I'll play that anytime soon. ^__^() BUT, I remember LOVING to play RO and how much fun it was to hang out with people and raise your job class and how the interface was just Point-and-click--so simple, even I can still remember the controls-LOL. Also, the last time I played I never got all the way up to Assassin like I wanted *pouts* just up to Rogue(?). I did get to be a Gunslinger though, woo! Good times...gooood times. Anyway, I played with catkinisis, 0dd0ne0utand Mora and DAMMIT I MISS YOU GUYS! TT__TT (Well, I miss everyone, but I don't think anyone else played with me?? If you did and I forgot...eheh- Sorry!). So? Anyone? :D --- Aw crap, I've got work soon *runs off to take a hot bath* I'm still stiff from standing at the counter and hand collating 48 cookbooks... *****EDIT***** LOL. Hope no one had any horror stories to put me off buying one, because today at Costco I saw the Onyx DS Lite with the LoZ: PH game included (and some other stuff) for the staggeringly cheap Costco price of 170. I was like "OK I'm buying this NOW". XD I haven't really played with it though. Too much HW. Poo. I watched the opening of LoZ:PH though. It makes me wish I had played more than the first 15 minutes of LoZ: Windwaker (the most painful part of the whole game, according to catkinisis who was letting me play it at her house last year). I CAN'T WAIT TO PLAY IT. And Pheonix Wright, I need to go and buy that one too. *****END EDIT***** I don't think anyone read my last journal, but there I was debating on whether or not to purchase a Nintendo DS Lite. I haven't really talked to my parents or friends about it (except today, with my ImPress coworker) and so it probably seems sudden, but I've been thinking on it for a while.(For arguments Pro and Con related, see previous entry.) I want to get the Onyx DS Lite because black matches everything. I didn't really choose Best Buy as the place I'm going to purchase the console though. All the stores carry it at the retail price of 129.99, so it doesn't matter where I buy the console, I was looking at games too. Places that are close to where I live and carry lots of games are difficult to find sometimes- Best Buy is my best bet. lol. I want to get these three: The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass(because LoZ games ROCK) Phoenix Write: Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations(or if I could find one of the older ones, that would be nice too. This one is the 2nd newest I think). My Sims(although that's a maybe. I've heard mixed reviews regarding graphics, gameplay and quality, so I might go a little more indepth before I get it. I could probably rent it at Blockbuster or something weird like that. You can rent DS Lite games, can't you??) *I forgot, I wanted to look for this one too. ANYWAY, I just want some thoughts from you guys before I go off and spend $250 some-odd dollars on a new game system. XDExhausted and soon off to bed. La~la. That is (kind of) the question. Do you ever feel like you're trying to talk yourself into doing something stupid? Well, today, when I was stuck at home, indoors while it was POURING rain outside and mom was napping so I couldn't, I was thinking about things I've really wanted to get for a while and now that I have *gaspu* money, I can actually buy them. One of them is, of course, a new desktop computer, but there are lots of things getting in the way of that. Namely the fact that it's just going to be soooo much cheaper to get one with the IUPUI student discount, so I might as well wait until Fall to get one. Another is a Nintendo DS. I wanted to get the My Sims game and a LoZ game (and probably others too), since I miss playing Zelda and the My Sims just looks so cute! (Not to mention the Acer Demon refuses to play the good ol' Sims game and frankly, I don't want to buy another just to play it on the PS2.) I can afford to buy one and I'd really like to get something that travels well. Also, I've played with a DS and it's just freaking fun to play with! >Probably the only thing that would throw me off is the fact that I HAVE a PS2 and just don't play it very often. Albeit the fact that I own 5 games, finished two of them, one is an arcade style, and the other two I'm stuck in. I go through phases where I just don't feel like sitting down on the floor and going through the whole 'so how many more times should I try this part before I break down and cheat?' thing with the PS2. :| At the same time my mind says: Well, if you don't play with the PS2 very often, why buy another platform? >Well, I'm bored with it, I have to use the TV to play it and honestly the games I have left are just so...yeah, whatever. At least with the My Sims there's no set gameplay and I could play it over and over with different results (I remember playing the first Sims--Oh man, sweetness-I LOVED that game!). I feel like I'm trying to force myself into getting excited about it though. I've decided to look at online reviews and price-shop around to see if it's really worth it. I know that people say that the DS is the best handheld console in the world, but I need convincing. ;) In other news, I think that my store manager at OM wants to switch me over to ImPress (the Print and Document Services). Last night I learned what it's like to run that whole department by myself. It wasn't impossible, but it sure as heck wasn't easy! I think it's something I'll need to get used to. As soon as I saw the class "Pastamancer" in Kingdom of Loathing I KNEW I had to give it a go. It is win, for reasons I really just can't explain. I'm still a n00blette by the way, with only one skill, but it is an awesome skill, so there. XD Spaghetti SpearType: Combat MP Cost: 1 This spell conjures a fast-moving dart of spaghetti and slings it at your enemy, dealing a small amount of damage. Uncooked spaghetti, that is. Cooked spaghetti wouldn't do much damage, now, would it? Tags: gaming, kol, random crap

Well, I gave up on RO a while ago because it was just too boring and then I gave up on Trickster yesterday because there was too much lag and the mouse freedom sucked. So I thought that I might try something else that's been going around- Granado Espada. It's by the makers of RO but it's definitely NOT Ragnarok. It's got a completely different style to it. The graphics are fantastic (and they'd better be for a 3 gig download! That's 6 hours!) and the gameplay is interesting. There are a few ups and downs: Ups: -The graphics are really amazing -The characters are easy to control -The tutorial part is short and straightforward -You control a 'family' of three characters at a time -If you're under Lvl 50, you automatically revive after 30 secs at full health -The battle system is simple -There's PVP and duels -There's a storyline and you can choose to fight for the queen or the revolutionaries -You can play without friends and it still stays interesting -You can choose to play various BGM depending on where you are- or you can just choose to pause or turn it off entirely -The BGMs are actually really awesome :D Downs: -The server is in Singapore, so it's sometimes hard to stay connected -It's so graphics intensive that it slows down my computer a little -You need a two button mouse and if you want to Zoom you need a scroll wheel -There's no driver so I can use my tablet as a mouse -The load time can be really, really long at times Main annoyance: -When you are out battling, whoever is the leader says something every time you click to move them and they say the same three things over and over. Not to mention, depending on what class the character is, they all have baaaaad accents. (Especially the male fighter). You can choose to turn it down, but then the other sound effects (not the BGM) are too. Anyway, can't post about gaming without screenshots, right? (Sized down a LOT) Tags: gaming, grandado espada, mmorpg, screen shots Current Location: Taylor, TX Current Mood: geeky Current Music: GE BGM- what else? XD
